Picking your favourite Muscle Fuel meals? Pfftt, easy as. How about picking a healthy snack to have in between those meals?... Yeah nah, that’s a bit trickier.
Overindulging in what we like to call “comfort food” can be detrimental to our health and fitness goals. We’re not saying you can’t ever eat any of your favourite goodies either. A core aspect of our Muscle Fuel 5:2 philosophy, five days to BURN with healthy delicious clean meals and two days to CHILL with freedom to eat what you want.
We just want to fill in some of the blanks with some fresh and healthy snack ideas to help you stay energized and feeling good.
Here are some of our favourite snacks you can try to avoid a regretful binge... a.k.a Snaccident!
1. High-fiber crackers with smashed avocado and salt’n’pepper
Not only deliciously fresh and tasty! But extremely beneficial. The fiber in the crackers will help slow digestion, making you feel fuller for longer.
2. Tuna and cottage cheese on crackers
Super simple to put together with a combination of tasty flavours. Pro tip: Avoid unnecessary fats by choosing tuna in springwater.
3. Apple and peanut butter biscuits
A combination of healthy fats and protein! The creation of a perfect snack.Pro tip: Aim to buy peanut butter that has a maximum of two ingredients to avoid excess salt and additives.

Pro tip:To avoid all the added extras from store-bought popcorn, buy a bag of kernels and pop them at home yourself.

A mix of organic and non-organic ingredients to make up a healthier, tastier alternative for people on the go! Available at your local supermarket!
7. Trail Mix
With the option to purchase a ready made one or create your own! With healthy fats, protein and natural sugars this fruit and nut combo can’t go wrong! Pro tip: If purchasing from the supermarket, look out for added ingredients like salt, preservatives and added sugar.
8. Greek Yogurt with Fruit & Nuts
An 8oz plain greek yogurt with the combination of mixed fruit and nuts and one serving of fruit. Simple, sweet and delicious, you can’t go wrong here!
9. Protein packed Avocado
Fill a small avocado with cottage cheese and chives for a snack that's high in protein and healthy fats, not to mention super tasty! Pro tip: Add tomato, salt and pepper for an even more flavoursome taste.
10. Three hard boiled eggs, sliced veggies + hummus
Eggs are a great source of protein and vitamin E, alongside your favourite vegetables and a dollop of hummus, makes for a very healthy protein filled snack!
